I am pleased to invite you to attend the 5th Conference on Quality Engineering in Software Technology, CONQUEST 2001.
To meet the demand for an international event centered on software quality, ASQF has established CONQUEST as an annual conference. In recent years the conference has attracted an international audience with, on average, around 250 guests. This year’s conference, taking place 19 th - 20 th September in Nuremberg, Germany, is intended to attract even more attendees. The agenda includes subjects such as Project Management, Requirement Management, Testing, Metrics, Componentware Architecture, SPI and Process Modeling. On the first day there will be six half day tutorials on the mentioned topics.
CONQUEST is organized by ASQF e.V. in collaboration with Fachhochschule Nuremberg and with the encouragement of the German Computer Society GI. The patron of CONQUEST 2001 will be Minister of State Erwin Huber.
The conference will be given in both English and German. For the benefit of our international guests all German lectures will be translated into English by simultaneous interpreters. The conference proceedings will contain articles in German as well as in English. All German articles will at least be summarized in English.
There will be an exhibition running alongside the conference, giving delegates a unique opportunity to find out more about the wide array of tools and concepts for software development. The exhibition area is the central platform for discussions and contacts. Tools and services will also be presented in more detail in the industrial sessions which take place in parallel with lunch breaks on 20 th - 21 th September.
The conference programme of CONQUEST 2001 is completed by a “Welcome Reception“ on 19 th September and a “Conference Dinner“ on 20 th September.
We look forward to meeting you in Nuremberg to extend our software quality experience-exchange network.

A Word of Welcome
by Erwin Huber (Minister of State)
As patron of CONQUEST 2001, I sincerely welcome everyone attending this meeting. Quality management plays a key role in the development and application of software. And quality management is what it all about at CONQUEST. I am delighted that in ASQF - Working Party for Software Quality in Franconia - users and providers have both found a dynamic partner for high technology in Northern Bavaria. ASQF promotes the exchange of experience and findings in a multitude of ways: also and in particular through the annual CONQUEST event.
The Bavarian State Government pursues this dedication with a sense of attachment. In Bavaria, we have made efforts to specifically support information and communication technology like no other German state.
Our High Technology Initiative counts on such motivated partners as we find in Nuremberg: ASQF is an initiative that blazes new trails – and has a future!
