The use of the international Standard ISO/IEC 15504 (SPICE) has been growing steadily over the last years. It has become a well known and applied model for software process assessments.

However, there is little quantitative or qualitative data available about the appliance of SPICE. Thus, the International Software Quality Institute (www.iSQI.org) with support of the International Assessor Certification Scheme (www.iNTACS.info) is conducting a survey to find out more about how many assessments conforming to ISO/IEC 15504 are carried out and in which countries.

A questionnaire has been set up to consult experts about their opinion of the current status of SPICE, its future development and its potential.

The survey is part of a bachelor thesis examining the market potential of SPICE. Silvia Broda, the author of the bachelor thesis, is a student of International Business Management (final year) of the Hochschule Furtwangen University. She is writing her bachelor thesis with iSQI.
