The Conference on Quality Engineering in Software Quality in Nuremberg has ended. It was concluded by Rick Craig’s keynote on "Measuring Test Effectiveness". The best presentation award of CONQUEST 2004 went to Peter Fromm of Siemens VDO Automotive for his talk "Code Quality in a Reuse Environment". The best paper award went to Hans Schäfer for his presentation "Why to test Integration? – The Task of Integration Testing".
The software industry has always been one of the most globalized branches.
Economic development during the part few years has even reinforced this trend. As a matter of face, a regional market for software does not exist. It is therefore the ability to compete on an international level that sets the standards for every company. ASQF has consequently followed this path. The founding of iSQI (International Software Quality Institute) in cooperation with the Bavarian state government an Bavaria's Software Initiative marked another milestone. We know now that regional or even national standards withoin the field of software quality will not be relevant in the long run.
The transition of ASQF's certified program for further education in to iSQI will bring about the program's international breakthrough and turn in into the key standards for further training in software quality professions worldwide. CONQUEST, too, has become more international this year. Never in the eight-year history of the conference have more speakers and participants from the world over gathered in Nuremberg. Never were the possibilities for companies to establish international contacts and business relations better than at CONQUEST 2004.
