Dear Guests,
Dear Participants of CONQUEST 2008,
A warm welcome to all of you! I am pleased that you will travel to Potsdam again to inform yourselves about standards in software quality, to establish networks and, above all, to deepen personal relationships.
The capital of the federal state of Brandenburg has developed into a recognized and internationally competitive science and research location. This also comprises CONQUEST which is paid attention to all over the world and about which we can justifiably say that it has indeed arrived at Potsdam in the meantime. So this year’s forums will again contribute to the coordination of information from all over the world and to the discussions on feasible solutions. Operators and users will benefit in equal measure if optimal programs are made available.
I am especially pleased that this year’s CONQUEST has an official partner country: Israel. Thus, possibilities for cooperation will arise from this, above all for Israeli and German companies in the IT and the safety sector. Such a direct meeting is the best way to establish contacts and will hopefully lead to many new business connections.
I wish the conference every success and the participants a pleasant stay in Potsdam. Have a nice time and come back soon!
Matthias Platzeck

I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 11th Conference on Quality Engineering in Software Technology (CONQUEST) in September 24-26 in Potsdam/Germany. Israel has been chosen to be iSQI’s official partner country for this year – which is not only a great chance to further intensify the bilateral relations in the IT-sector of both countries, but also an excellent opportunity to present Israel’s outstanding technologies to the international software developers community.
CONQUEST is Germany’s most important conference on the subject of software quality. Furthermore, the event is located in the capital region Berlin- Brandenburg, which is the second largest IT-region in Germany. The turnover generated by the German IT-sector is growing above average. At the same time, Germany is facing a severe lack of IT-professionals. Experts say that this causes significant financial losses for the German economy.
On the other hand, Israel’s software industry is one of the most innovative industries in the world which draws over one-third of all foreign investment in Israel. In 2007, software exports have topped $3 billion. After the US and Canada, Israel boasts the largest number of NASDAQ listed companies.
In the sector of homeland security, Israel today has earned its worldwide reputation for developing leading security solutions. Israeli companies are involved in many international projects such as border control, airports, sea ports and public transports. For example, 15 Israeli companies were involved in a $200 million project for the 2004 Olympic games. The annual security industry turnover is about $4 billion, with 25 % of it from exports.
This all means great potential for Israeli and German software professionals to get together, to make new contacts and to exchange potential business ideas at CONQUEST 2008.
In order to make your stay as effective as possible, me and my team are happy to assist you if you have any further questions with regard to potential business contacts in Germany.
Once again, I would be pleased to see you at this year’s CONQUEST in Potsdam.

Stel Pinhasov Beck
Commercial Attaché & Director, Israel Trade Center

I am pleased to welcome you to CONQUEST 2008 in September 24-26, 2008 in Potsdam, Germany. Since 1997, CONQUEST – the International Conference on Quality Engineering in Software Technology - is the platform for software professionals to get to know newest methods and tools for quality engineering from industry and research, to listen to practical experiences and show cases, to see how quality engineering methods are successfully deployed in industrial environment, to learn about recent tool and service offers, to share experiences and to discuss future directions.
CONQUEST 2008 will feature tutorials and presentations of internationally renowned speakers and high-quality peer-reviewed presentations from members of the quality engineering community. It provides a full picture of software quality in theory and practice.
It is a particular pleasure to celebrate at CONQUEST the 10th anniversary of the Software Testing Working Group at ASQF, which has been created back in 1998 and runs currently over 20 meetings a year with over 500 participants. It also contributed to the Certified Tester Initiative in Germany, which can currently reference together with over 30 other national testing boards to over 60.000 certified testers. All working group members, certified testers and interested parties are cordially invited to the Software Tester Welcome, which is supported by the German Testing Board. In addition, the German Testing Forum will take place for the first time in Potsdam as an independent, but affiliated event of CONQUEST.
A variety of international speakers and participants will give you practical and research insights into current and topical aspects of quality engineering. This broad perspective will be attendees from all over the world including Europe, Asia and America. Our exhibition about recent methods, services and tools will include 15 national and international companies from the software quality field and will give you detailed insights into their tool and service offers.
I wish us all a successful and enjoyable CONQUEST 2008.
Yours truly,
Ina Schieferdecker
